Sounds-Write Phonics

Sounds-Write is a phonics programme which teaches children to read and spell words rom the beginning of reception.

Sounds-Write is validated by the Department for Education (DfE) in England as an effective systematic synthetic phonics programme (SSP).

The programme is broken into two main parts:

The Initial Code (taught from Reception)

The Extended Code (taught from Year 1 and into Year 2)

How do I say the sounds? When learning to read, children are taught the sound a letter makes, not the letter nae. Watch the clip below to se Alex say the sounds in the intial code.
