Sizzling Science Day!

This Thursday children across the school became 'Scientists' for the day.

Pupils in Belstone practiced their forensic skills to solve a mystery using chromatography, checking finger prints and 8 handwriting samples to establish unquestionably that 'Miss Lewis' was the culprit!

While members of both Burrator and Saddletor investigated what happened when dye was added to washing-up liquid, floated paper clips and made Lava Lamps.  They also looked at how quickly they could transfer water from one plastic bottle to another - creating a Tornado was by far the fastest.

Kestor children made 'moon rocks' while those in Haytor made rockets using plastic bottles and a mixture of water and orange juice tablets or vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, the later proved to make the most efficient rocket!
