Chudleigh Knighton Primary School Year 5 and 6 pupils were visited by PC Keith Hodgins who discussed ‘inter net safety’. During his visit PC Hodgins put forward different strategies and steps to ‘stay safe’ whilst using the internet, these included not giving away personal details, to be aware of who they might be in contact with and think about what they are being asked to do. The pupils then designed informative posters and internet safety manuals promoting an awarness of internet safety for young children.
After the meeting Mr Westwood said: ‘I would like to express my thanks to PC Hodgins for his humorous yet informative meeting with my class, he explored both the positives as well as the negatives of internet use. Once PC Hodgins had left, pupils discussed what they had learned during the meeting. I was delighted how much of an impact he’d had, pupils fed back with the following:’
‘Think about what people are asking you to do’ Nathan
‘Never give away personnel information’ Eve
I was really shocked after listening to PC Hodgins, I thought sending a photo wouldn’t do any harm’ Faith
