On Friday 21st September Kestor class travelled to Fermoy’s to visit Abbfest, an annual food and drink festival. The visit linked nicely to our Food and Farming topic and the children enjoyed experiencing a range of activities, including; sushi making, smoothie making, seed and bulb planting and clay throwing. During the day the children were given the opportunity to try foods that they may not have tasted before. They also learnt some valuable facts about areas such as hand washing, preparing foods, seed growth and the uses for farmed crops. We had a brilliant day, it was a real success and we have used the visit as a starting point for developing our knowledge of food and farming back in class.
